A Recipe: Food for Thought

Take equal parts of Kindness,
Unselfishness and Thoughtfulness,
Mix in atmosphere of Love,
Add a slice of Usefulness,
Scatter a few grains of Cheerfulness,
Season with Smiles,
Stir with a happy Laugh,
And dispense to Everyone!

A Night Out at Chinese Restaurant Asiatico Jing

This review was produced by my good friend, Elaine Newport-Black.

Our visit to this delightful restaurant was a really memorable one for us, reason being it was to celebrate the birthday of our special friend.

We were greeted by friendly smiling staff that immediately seated us and made us feel most welcome.  Our party consisted of 18 people. The staff were very efficient and promptly took our orders.  Our table was served without delay and the delicious food  placed on the table piping hot, considering the amount they had to cater for; this was a feat in itself.

The restaurant is tastefully decorated and extremely clean; it is situated on Torrex sea front. In the day time it would be a lovely place to eat and then enjoy the Mediterranean sea or in the evening after eating, go for a stroll and take in the sea air. We have no hesitation in recommending anyone that enjoys Chinese food of a high standard to go along and sample their wonderful fare and warm hospitality.

Copper Cookware

The excellent reputation of copper cookware comes from its unique property of being a good conductor of heat, which means that it offers a gentle, even heating which avoids hot spots, sticking, and burning. It also heats quickly, saving cooking time, and cools quickly, preventing delicate foods from becoming overcooked. You can cook any kind of food in copper cookware. It is particularly ideal for delicate sauces, risottos, and sautés because you can keep such a light touch with the temperature. Copper responds so quickly that you can reduce a sauce from a boil to a simmer in just a few seconds. Read More…

El Cruce Restaurant – a superb place for lunch

el-cruce-restaurantI had missed a telephone call from friends which was at least two days old, so I decided to phone back and make my apologies.  My friends said that they were going to have lunch at El Cruce restaurant/bar in Trapiche and invited me to join them, to which I readily agreed because I had never eaten there, although I had often had a coffee and a drink there in the past.

It was about 2.00pm and when we went through to the large dining room we found a nice wood-burning fire near to the table that we were shown to.  Space was made for my friend Tom, who needs to use a wheelchair and then we were quickly attended to for drinks.  A very nice bottle of house wine was provided and we were offered some four or five starters to choose from.  I chose their delicious vegetable soup that had such a lovely aroma.   My friends chose other starters and we settled to enjoy our meal, along with about eighty or more fellow diners who were busy eating and enjoying the happy atmosphere.

We were then offered a choice of some six or seven main courses from which I chose a chicken dish with a lovely sauce.  The helpings were generous and I had to leave some because I just could not manage the quantity, but not through any fault in the quality of the cuisine.  It tasted delicious. We finished off with a coffee and eventually left.  The whole meal cost in the region of eight euros.  We had enjoyed excellent service and a warm atmosphere; my friend in the wheelchair had been welcomed and easily accommodated.

El Cruce is easily located at the junction between the road to Vinuela and Benarmagosa.
